2 February 2016; Daallo Airlines A321-100; SX-BHS; flight D3159; near Mogadishu, Somalia: The aircraft was on a scheduled international flight from Mogadishu, Somalia to Djibouti, Djibouti. Shortly after takeoff, when the aircraft was climbing and at an altitude of about 11,000 feet, there was either an explosion or a structural failure that caused a fuselage rupture in the forward portion of the passenger cabin. There was also evidence of fire in the area of the fuselage damage. The crew was able to return to the departure airport at Mogadishu. One of the 74 passengers was ejected out of the aircraft and was killed, and two other passengers were injured. The body of the passenger who was ejected from the aircraft was found near Balad Town, about 30 km (18.8 miles) north of Mogadishu. All seven crew members survived.
