TAP Air Portugal plane crashes

The following are significant events involving the airline or its subsidiares. The numbered events are those involving at least one airline passenger death where the aircraft flight had a direct or indirect role, and where at least one of the dead passengers was not a stowaway, hijacker, or saboteur. This list only includes events since 1970.

  1. 19 November 1977; TAP Air Portugal 727-200; CS-TBR; flight TP425; Funchal, Portugal: The aircraft touched down long on a wet runway, overran the runway, broke up, and caught fire. Six of the eight crew members and 125 of the 156 passengers were killed.
