Fatal Plane Crash Involving
Singer and Actress Aaliyah

Singer and actress Aaliyah was killed in the crash of a chartered plane that crashed shortly after takeoff on Abaco Island in the Bahamas for a flight to Opa Locka, Florida. All nine on board, including Aaliyah were either died at the scene or shortly after the crash. Aaliyah had been in the Bahamas for the production of one of her music videos and was returning to the U.S. at the time of the crash. The plane crashed at the end of the airport's runway at 6:50 p.m. EDT (2250 GMT). The aircraft was owned by Skystream, a company based in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
